Welcome to Alderney Angling
Mark has fished all his life and has won many club championships as a junior and then senior, this then lead to short spell on the match circuit where he always featured in and amongst the top International anglers, winning the odd League and Open to his name too. Its boat fishing where Marks love is, followed by plugging for Bass and now he has a real zest for overseas fishing with the Florida Keys being the current favourite place to be.
Fieona Cosheril is Marks partner and she has fished on and off for most of her life too so a match made in heaven and the perfect business partner as well! Fieona loves fly fishing, its just a shame Mark can’t teach her!! She also enjoys the thrill of landing big fish and has caught Common Skate to 155lb, and Bronze Whaler Sharks to 220lb from the shores of Namibia. Fieona also won the ladies section in the 2014 Alderney Angling Festival.
Matthew Smith joined Alderney Angling April 2013 and Matthew too has fished from when he was nearly out of his nappy, about 16 when he left school!! Joking a side he has been fishing since he was 4 years old and his father has taught him 99% of what he knows, and that goes some way to making Matthew an accomplished angler. Matthews favourite fishing is after Bass with soft plastics with his PB a fish of 12lb 9oz from the shore and from the boat one of 12lb!! Its no joke that Matthew fishes virtually every day…………..I know, I give him the time off!!
Elite species hunter Ross Johnson joined us early 2014 and along with Matt is on the frontline dealing with customer queries whether they be from the internet or retailing in the shop. They are both the same, so long as they are talking fishing they don’t care how they do it! It’s a pleasure to have Ross work here, he is full of knowledge on all aspects of angling and is an avid species hunter so he gets involved with lures of all shapes and sizes in his quest to hunt down those hard to locate specimens. Ross carved his angling skills as a 6 year old fishing his local Cheshire canals before having his first dabble at sea angling when he was 12 catching Plaice and Flounder in the Devon estuaries when on holidays with his Grandad. He now prefers sea angling but still can’t help himself chasing Perch, Zander and Pike on the soft plastics when he gets a chance! In 2012/2013 Ross has caught 83 Saltwater species, that is some feat!!
Tracey Clarke joined us January 2013 too, if you wondered how all your orders arrive neatly packaged and well protected then that is down Tracey. Now Tracey doesn’t fish………………well she didn’t!! She wanted too…………………..so in May 2013 we took Tracey out for her first session on the local quarry we have here Carp fishing. Like a true pro she caught her first Carp within 90 minutes of baiting her swim, played it out on the clutch of the reel and safely guided it to the net, all 7lb of it…………….impressive I’d say. Since then Tracey accompanies her partner James who is becoming an accomplished angler too when he’s not doing his DJ bit. Tracey also keeps us lads in line so we don’t misbehave and that we remain here to answer your questions and take your calls about what you need to know! That’s pretty important………but so is the fishing!
As well as a shopping website don’t miss our information pages on the left hand side, Latest Reports (yes which I do forget to update, try Facebook too), the Alderney Angling Shore League, our Charity boat Wetwheels and more. In development we have our Angling Destinations pages of places where we have fished that include Florida Keys, Thailand, Norway, Namibia and closer to home featuring Alderney, Weymouth and Oban in Scotland. This page will develop with places to rent, guides to use and other useful advice. Much more will follow on this page too as we get about!
